99% of the time this means that 1) either the client or the server is outdated or 2) you have outdaed vms files flying around. Here you can see the version of the servers. Make sure you are on Alpha 17. Then, make sure there is no vms-.pk3 or data-.pk3 in your <homepath>/main/ folder and there is only the latest vms-0.17.0.pk3 in your <installpath>/main/ folder.
