FOV is class-specific in Unvanquished.
There is no cg_fov, but there are cg_fov_(builder|human|level(0..4)).
Next time try tab-completing a variable that you think should exist but it does not seem to — it's possible that its name got lengthened to avoid ambiguity or split into different cvars just like with this one.

all cg_fov_[class] is set to "0" by default.
Changing does nothing.
Is this related to my FOV bugby any chance?

fov will only change on death. This is to prevent FOV zoom hacks.

Makes sense.

EDIT: FOVs above 100 tend to make the gun look buggy by showing up the 'untextured' areas
