Thank you all for taking some time to respond to the two surveys. I will try to do more of these in the future, maybe on a seasonal basis. Here are the scores, presented in neat auto-generated Google graphs. I received 29 responses for the first survey and 22 for the second.
That looks pretty favorable to me, which is encouraging, I suppose. Most people feel positive about the direction of the project. The three people that disagreed tended to leave remarks about feeling that we were going in the wrong direction, or that they didn't like our direction. Even though they are in the minority, I am still open to hearing their suggestions.
Looks to me like a lot of people like our development team. That's a good thing, although I'm unsure of just how many of our developers you've all interacted with. I think some of our team members might be camera shy, but I'll see if I can get some of them to say more things in public.
Mostly similar to the first question, although focusing on what we've already accomplished rather than what we intend to do. Again, people generally seem pleased with our progress, which I suppose is bolstered by constant, monthly alpha releases. Two people disagreed, and again, I'm still open to hearing their feedback.
Well, that's reassuring. I mainly handle all of our writing tasks, recruitment, and project management, whereas Ishq heads programming and is our engine maintainer. We also recently promoted Viech to project head too, and he handles our creative direction and gameplay development. The next time I ask this question in a survey several months down the line, it will include the three of us.
I'm not really sure which group I was trying to target with this question since the survey was open to both the community and to developers, so it doesn't tell me much. At least most people feel favorable. That is a good thing, I suppose.
Two thirds of people have had a favorable interaction with our development team, slightly over a quarter don't care, and a tenth have had an unfavorable interaction. It's good that we have favorable interactions with the community, but I'm more curious about those neutral and negative responses. The question is, who is interacting with who in these circumstances?
Looks to me like most of you like the website. That's a good thing. Have you taken a look at it lately? As of yesterday, we've redone the layout on the front page to make it a bit more visually appealing and coherent. Besides that, tell us other things. Do you like Unvstats? How about our server listing?
It's a miracle! People are actually reading my articles. I feel so flattered. Here I was thinking that I was the only one reading them.
Half of you don't follow our coding development. I bet Ishq is going to feel so depressed. Do you not know where to find it, or is it simply a lack of interest? I can admit to being confused by all the programmer jargon myself sometimes, but I try to put in an effort to understand what's going on.
I suppose it's good that you like or don't care about our engine features, but one person doesn't? That's strange. What don't you like about them?
That's unfortunate. Most people only sometimes read the wiki. I suppose that we need to put more effort into maintaining the wiki, and for that we're going to need some more wiki-savvy volunteers. Things might get better after MediaWiki releases their new wiki editor. It's much easier to use and doesn't require knowledge of markup.
Most people don't seem to mind our new gameplay. I suppose that's because it's very new and we haven't been hyping it as much, but just wait. We're starting to get to the good parts, and you'll see some of the things we're working on this coming release on September 1st. New gameplay elements have also been going through the concept stage. Besides the drill and leech, we're going to be adding things like a flying form to the alien team and pistol sidearm and rocket pod defense structure to the human team. Things will get much more interesting over the coming months.
