Ope... Wasn't aware of this thread!

Hi, I'm DeathReaper. I come from the Xservers of 1.1 and I'm glad to be here! I like to make GFX so look forward to a GFX shop after i get settled in/improve. I've played Trem 1.1 sense 08' and I've Admin'd on quite a few servers. I will also be making a lot of videos of Unvanquished and placing them on to Youtube! :D Working on a video as we speak to show Unv. off.

Isn't this the kind of thing one should be ashamed to say in public?

Nah dude. 1.1 was a wondrous place. Being their for 5 years really taught me a lot on people, being a decent enough staff member, GFX , friendships in large communities etc.. 1.1 was awesome. Just depends what kind of people criticize you because they usually they're very blunt about it because they dunno much of it. :P

Of course... Perhaps I should have pared the quote a bit more. In case you are not being deliberately obtuse :painsaw:

Oh that sexy place? Learning mods and such is pretty fun. Doing the 'same' thing constantly gets kind of boring and that's why the xservers has the community it does/history it has had.

Enough of this though, your bad experience on a server shouldn't cause you to rage and display rudeness to every single player from their (in general). I'm just a regular player like anyone else here :P

iirc this server was notorious for having an operator who wanted to mod the server, but had no knowledge of coding. Thus the gameplay changes consisted solely of modifications of constants in a header file. Naturally, these did not lead to a particularly interesting game.

Sure, it's okay if players are amused for 5 minutes with blaster 1-hit kills or whatever ... The reason the X server has a long history of being disdained is that some new players would join the X server first. Their first experience would be its debased imitation of Tremulous. Thereafter, if they did not quit immediately, such players were sometimes never able to learn to play on normal servers, so the X server had an effect of decreasing the playerbase of trem.

I'm not sure what you are referring to.

By all means good luck with your graphic designs and so on. X server background not hurting anything. On the other hand, if you were designing gameplay...

This i get.. well to extent at least. X being my first server that i joined and got hooked on. I did see the lack of skill (in ways at least) when playing Vanilla servers and it was hard to get both down. It's a whole new set of rules when you're on X but that's only you're opinion if it's bad or good.

If you're good at vanilla, you can be pretty good at X. The other way around is more difficult. From my experience at least.

Hey I'm djazz and I'm new here
I have been playing Tremulous at LAN-parties before but that was a couple of years before.
I'm amazed to see the game evolving, I thought all development had stopped

I found Unvanquished linked to from a post in the Trem forum.
I'm a programmer, I do JavaScript, PHP and HTML/CSS stuff. I have C++ knowledge but I'm not very good at it.

Keep up the good work
