Qrntz, careful with that. Looking back through the references and then those reference's references, Robert Glass is not referencing research papers, but just his own observations from other books. Books, mind you, that seem to only be there to attack open source projects. He's known to have a distrust and dislike of FOSS

I think there is some confusion as to how a bounty system works. It's a matter of an individual being paid to do some work for a project, under terms that would require them to release their work under a FOSS license. The end result is that the license of the project does not change, but the work is incentivized by money. This has been done with some moderate success on a number of FOSS projects, but there's also some lovely stories of how it can fail miserably.
