I've been playing Tremulous at small LAN parties that I host since about 2009. We stopped playing tremulous sometime last year, but recently discovered Unvanquished and it has instantly become the new favorite.
Due to the fact that we play this at LAN parties instead of online we have tended to favor a more casual style of gameplay rather than the competitive type you get online. Occasionally a few of us do play online and we've noticed it tends to play quite differently.
I was just wondering if I could get a run-down of how the competitive style works so I can give better feedback and suggestions based on competitive play rather than casual play
The best way for you to how competitive v casual games are played would be for you to spectate a game or a scrim (not a game filled with bots). It would be much easier to explain in-game than out (giving tips, strategies etc)
I have few videos of my on aussie assault on my youtube channel. You'll need to look into the upload history, my channel isn't entirely dedicated to unvanquished youtube stuff
I don't consider myself professional, since i actually feed a lot on gpp, and since 95% of the aussie community came from 1.1 [blame six]. Most of the gameplay in unvanquished is very similar to gpp right now, the major difference probably the luci, goon pounce and tyrant charge difference [you can't whore with those alien abilities anymore] and the fact most alien classes' swipe range is the same [80 i think]

++ (love the audio in "How many goons does it take to take down a jettard?"
Sounds great. I'm definitely going to need to watch some competitive play before I make more suggestions. Probably what I'll do is create a clan with my LAN group and possibly my own server.

Get highrise9 (highrise beta 6's pk3) and type /play sound/highrise/fword.wav
That vid was ages ago, that buildable HUD percentages was removed from my appdata because they didn't show up on impure servers online.

Reminds me of the {ULTRA} clan (bunch of euro/american brothers/friends on gpp) and they kept raging when i killwhored them on asia unofficials (probably was SiR clan server at the time, they probably had no idea it was asian)
What country u in btw? It would be nice for me to have a server between 100 and 350 ping, NA officials seems to give me about 400 for some odd reason, while other aussies get their normal 250 (west usually gets 300 to US officials on gpp)
