This thread is purposely locked, it's not a discussion place, it's a notification device. When discussions are needed, for example when announcing release candidates, notifications published there may link the related thread for discussion. Anyone can create elsewhere in the forum any discussion related to any notification published there if needed.
Purpose
Here is a non-exhaustive list of people who may benefit from a release coordination notification tool:
- Translators, who want to be notified some weeks before the release to translate remaining strings,
- Modders, who want to start working on rebasing their mod to be ready for the release,
- Server hosters, who want to be ready to update their servers when the release happens,
- CDN hosters, who want to synchronise their seeds,
- Packagers, who want to be ready to upgrade their packages when the release happens,
- Newsers, who want to start gathering information or even build-up buzz,
- Benchmark suite authors, who may want to prepare their suite for the upcoming changes.
In the future when we will publish on stores (Steam, Itch.io, GOG or other things like that), more people may want to subscribe to such notification.
This thread will receive messages like:
- Published release candidates,
- Proposed release date,
- Confirmed release date,
- Delayed released date,
- Release leak (when the build is already online and ready to synchronise on CDN),
- Release announce (when it's public for real),
- Exceptional messages that would be useful for coordination (like announcing upcoming strong breaking compatibility changes).
