For armors I can see the need, but for grenade, they may just waste the money if killed while repairing, right? Is there a way to do selective equipment?

Better way to save your zombie layout by giving it a proper name ( why not zombie?):

Then you can load your map with the zombie custom layout this way:

Game maker itself actually had a scripting language; gml (game maker language) and basically anything that could be done with a drag and drop box could also just be typed out.
