Confidence

I've been thinking about this a lot, and I think that confidence, in its final state, should be core system Unvanquished is built upon. Working with this assumption, I think it is time we start designing the real meat of the gameplay: classes, buildables, weapons.
With this, let's make this thread about ideas you have for confidence: the way confidence can be earned, how it can be lost, stage ups, stage downs, etc.
From my short gameplay yesterday, I liked it a lot. It obviously needs balancing with the initial values, but the concept behind it is solid. Viech's implementation provides us a versatile base in which we can add various sources of confidence and test them with relative ease. I like Viech's idea to make confidence fall exponentially and the stage down.

Good to hear! I'm open for any input regarding confidence!
For brief explainations of the current (see date of this post) internals, refer to Post 7529 and Post 7523.
I might make a main page news article soon but I think I will do some more coding first.

Feel free to make an article whenever you'd like. It doesn't have to be on a Sunday. Just make sure to stick some sort of picture or diagram in to attract viewers to it.
I also still assert that "confidence" is better off using "dominance" as the term.

I agree the Confidence may not be the best term, but I think dominance is wrong too. Confidence is a measure of the momentum a team has, and having more momentum at any given time doesn't mean they are winning (and therefore, dominating).

We should have a different thread where we can discuss the wording. I'm not opposed to dominance but maybe we can come up with an even better term (or two, one for each team, like "Fury" vs. "Motivation" or "Supremacy" vs. "Dominance"). Changing the wording in the code should be easy enough.
