Lolards visual mod

Postby ViruS » Wed Jul 25, 2012 8:48 am UTC

Suited for Unvanquished in its alpha series. Will be updated as unvanquished gets updated to adapt to the new visuals.
Check the date which the mod has been last updated. If the date is before you last updated Unvanquished to a newer alpha, don't download yet!
Plans: As I update this visual mod, i will not be adding, or will be unlikely to add new things. I will mod/fix particle systems though along the way. Once all of unvanquished's assets have been finished, this should only be a particle system mod and some other few tweaks.

Last updated: Alpha 8 OCT 9th

Background info:
It's actually a combined visual mod of mainly 1.1 mods, most from Funko [past project of rotacak for the R CZ servers in 1.1], Shinytrem [credits in the file from the shinytrem readme], CoRx - (luci sprites only i think)[Camper's further developement of KoRx mod], weaponsounds, and some other scatterbrains from other mods... with a fair amount of tweaking/adding/deleting/modifying the partial systems.
It would be cool if the unv devs could have blood splatter, but these textures are owned by someone else.

I originally posted the download link on aussie assault for more info:

"Direct" download link(s) below:

MyStuff
It's actually a google site... couldn't be more convenient.

If anyone's work is still in there that isn't credited, please tell me, and i will update the readme file.

There's a file in there that gives a list of current known bugs and fixes of Lolards visuals, Unvanquished and Aussie Assault faults.

That sounds cool. Is this the same thing that's used on R Unltd CZ? Screenshots?

Also note any bugs that aren't listed on aussie assault.

I recommend Dropbox.

I love the shotgun! Though it is kinda huge in third person.
I'm not so sure about the crosshairs for it and the Tyrant though, they seem far too big.
Love the partical effects! Fantastic!

Also, it appears that my crosshairs are in there. Didn't think anyone would actually want to use them in a mod like this (or use them period)! Thanks! :D

I copied them from the 1.1 version you had, they were originally white, so i had to create shader files for it i think, something like that. I can't remember... was long ago.
Crosshair for tyrant explains the width it swipes at, as long as you get the human within that range, it should hit.

@seana11: I don't go on unlimited CZ so i'm not sure if rotacak put it on or not. I just modified the ones he had for Funserver from 1.1.
I mensioned it in the credits.

Hmmm, can't find a mirror that will work! Is this mod compatible with 0.7?

If you find me a better mirror, i'll upload it there instead. Alpha 7's compatable is somewhat done already.

I just need to figure out how to fix the values for the directory type 'cent' in particle systems, but i'll remove that feature for now. Basically, i tried implementing the shotgun bullet effect into the rifle and the chaingun but it didn't work [the bullet particle doesn't move]

I tried finding tutorials on the internet about quake's particle system, i kept getting things about tsunamis and earthquakes. If its game-related, its source-code for the quake engine rather.

I'm also having a hard time trying to figure out why the choppers for aliens not working but the tyrant's is working though. The weapon.cfgs for the basi/mara/goon are pretty much identical to the ones i have, so i don't see a problem with them.

Eh, I find those restrictive and ad-ridden. I prefer a google site, or hosting it myself.

Crap, my internet got capped. [For those who don't understand, we have limited internet, when we download too much, it slows right down to 'suppositely' 50kb/s, mine goes as slow as 200 bytes a second. I had that last night apparently]
EDIT: I'm getting a site, https://sites.google.com/site/zdrytchx/home/stuff
and uploading an incomplete update. It is still compatible, it does not come up with serious bugs. I have again updated the file 'alpha 6, 7 update' to give more info on the bugs existing outside my visual mod.
