Make it easier to learn to play aliens
Aliens are currently very hard to learn for noobs, as the game denies them the practice.
Take noob humans. Yes, they are confined to riflemanship most of the time, but they still learn the most essential skills as riflemen: aiming, dodging all classses of aliens, so they aren't lost when they can afford a bigger gun.
Now take noob aliens. They're similarly confined to dretchendom, but they have much harder time learning how to use higher classes: they're too different from dretch: you have to click to bite, dodging is completely different, so noobs generally lose them in a few seconds after they gain them, having to earn them again (it's most likely hard for them, since they are still, well, noobs and don't have much experience with dretch either, and it only gets worse as the game progresses, since dretches become less and less useful).

I have noticed this as well. It would be useful to have a more consistent alien featureset, instead of the varying range of abilities we have now. This might also be fixed with the proper training modes.

100% agree. This game needs an in depth and easy to follow tutorial that allows new players to perhaps use and master these essential skills against bots, getting them ready for an online experience. Tips should also be included as to where to hide, as well as using such things as stairs to your advantage.

This also could explain why aliens win most of the time: humans have an unhealthily big proportion of noobs, while aliens have the opposite, since noobs that are frustrated with aliens gravitate to humans.

We're still working on the gameplay, and we've made some major, fundamental shifts in our discussions lately. It's kind of silly to say that aliens are hard to play in a game that hasn't been fleshed out yet. Of course, they were rough in Tremulous, but we're not going to be Tremulous for very much longer.

Well, not much gameplay changing has been happening. It still strongly resembles Tremulous gpp at this stage... or as some people say, an indie tremulous mod...

Mm. I agree. It won't feel like unvanquished until it is completely finished and has none of the models or main features that were in tremulous. Part of that is improving the way the game is played and making it more user friendly

What about set scenarios? E.G kill one human as a drech. Or kill a goon and use dodge twice.

How bout we port some 1.1 features to unvanquished such as achievements.... it's like setting goals for newbies...
i.e.
Upon entering his/her first game, he/she is shown a menu/window of currently earnt achievements, with obviously nothing. First one is something like getting your first kill...
Aussie Assault statistics is still tracking unvanquished, but the achievements listed are for its 1.1 server so they're just doing nothing now... Some of these also won't be compatible, such as the achievement called "Hitler!" because you can't kill humans with gas anymore...
