Hehe... I had the same reactions about aliens when I came here... now, I'm a little more accustomed (use the training server, there are a few maps were you only fight bots, which is a good way to have some practice) and I only think that aliens are *far* harder to use than a good old human with he's...

Unvanquished presentation

I wonder if there is an official presentation, to be used on website to advertise people about unvanquished? This could be useful, and having an official one could allow to make translations. So, is there is one somewhere? (and no, I do not think I could do it, I'm bad when it comes to presentations)

Personal i would direct use a class based systems. Where different variations in a class are possible, for humans different weapons/armors/items for aliens different abilities. like for the dretch a version where he is transparent or can jump like a goon. That makes no sense. I'd rather see human bodies fade away with a teleportation effect and alien bodies decompose with a buzzing swarm digesting them. Of course, that assumes you haven't been gibbed. This is the idea in this thread that I prefer: giving each species a different disappearance animat...

I like that idea, but, there is an issue you did not spoke about: what if you want to keep some poison but people constantly run into you to stole your poison?

The solution I could see for that would be to give it by using the gas on allies.

I would vote on strategy. And strategy involves teamwork... The best FPS game I've seen which was using strategy until now was battlefield 2142 (I'm not a guy which buy everygame, so I probably have missed a lot of them). The slot idea is indeed the direction to go. I made a class diagram for a potential design of gamelogic last week, when I had to think about that equipment problem, and I came to the same solution as viech spoke about. About the disabling stuff, in graphical term, it only needs something like a race...

Aliens are not the only one concerned, think about a human with heavy equipments, like flamer, battery pack, or worse, battlesuit armor...

But considering how few maps have sands, and the probable difficulty of such a feature, I do not think it will be made...
