Re: New package format for upcoming 0.51.0 release (bye bye pk3)

:announce: Sorry, I forgot to say 0.51.0 release will merge tex-ej01-clean , tex-ej01-ice and tex-ej01-common into a lone tex-ej01 package, so maps relying on them will need a DEPS file rewrite. The 0.51.0 release will also introduces a res-ambient packages for cool crates and ambient sounds and stu...

New package format for upcoming 0.51.0 release (bye bye pk3)

:announce: Hi, upcoming 0.51.0 release will introduce a new package format to succeed to the good old pk3 one. Don't worry, it's just the same we already used… TL;DR: .pk3 becomes .dpk So, why the change ? Over the years, Unvanquished improved a lot the good old pk3 format, adding version checking a...

TremGen: the random map generator

I remember that in 2007 a group of French students and their professor devised a random map generator for Tremulous, here are some links but most are in French: ⋅ (en) http://tremulous.net/forum/index.php?topic=4268.msg64102#msg64102 ; ⋅ (fr) http://professeurs.esiea.fr/wassne...

Re: Max download rate from game server

Hi! Yes, the internal download is very slow, to provide faster download you must set-up an http server to serve your files and tell the unvanquished server which url the client have to use. See my tutorial . Note that if you want modern bot support, you can also use that backport , if you use that c...

Re: Copyright approval

For reference, a similar talk today on IRC: <hocoboy> Hello. I'm working on a crowdfunding project and want to include a short clip of Unvanquished in our video as the project relates to a video game accessory. I want to know how I can get permission to do this? <illwieckz> hocoboy, see this similar...

Re: Lets discuss Tyrant

It is powerful. By the way his power is made almost unusable given player have to aim very precisely, and it's very easy to miss the shot. Sometime I think about a Tyrant with a kind of damage “spread“: if you were a real tyrant with an human in front of you, you would not have to aim precisely to h...

Re: Quick ideas and small suggestions

An idea is to make smg preventing the egg to spawn units. If I'm right just sitting on the egg makes it unable to spawn units. Another thing, make adv marauder immune against rc electric. Even if it can sound more “realistic” since adv marauder can generate electricity itself, an adv marauder immun...

Re: Award for killing spawns

It would mean forward bases are more disposable, it can encourage to build them in either way (territory capture is less risky), but in another way by making the territory disposable, it does not encourage to defend it a lot, so in long term it probably discourage the capture despite the short term ...
