Thanks so much Viech and Anomalous. I did as suggested and ran this command which seems to have solved the problem in terminal: "sudo unvanquished-download-paks". I presume this should work for anyone else using either Ubuntu or a variant, or a Linux disttribution based on it such as Linux...

Hi Ishq, Viech & Fuma. Removal of .Unvanquished/main/pakG.pk3 did the trick; managed to get in and browse around the Training Server without a hitch. From a layman looking back, this game has come a long way since Trem. Your efforts are appreciated!
