I compiled the latest git pull and downloaded vms.0.12.0.pk3 and pakB.pk3. I also deleted the older vms files. However, when I try to connect to NA server, I get the following error.
VM code must invoke a version check

We're on the verge of making the release, so I'd wait an hour or two. :p
Make sure you have the right pakB.pk3 as well. A bad version was uploaded earlier but has since been replaced.
We just released, so try now.

Not a bad one; just one which was known to be missing a few resources and was up there purely for testing purposes.
