I was given specific instructions to make it cute.

With tusks (like tremulous)

Hm. Try putting the plates on the back only, and removing them from the head. Keep the antennae.

It looks like the Trem granger, just with plates. :/

Why not draw your inspiration from insects that also build their own nests.

Everybody loves the old granger, you seem to be the only person so far that doesn't.
