We could make the trapper shoot sideways (as in the animation) if it was build on the floor.

Potentially...but, then we'd only have floor trappers and ceiling trappers and wall trappers would no longer work as well taking away from the stealth aspect of a trapper.

Can't we just have the tail pivot around to face people, like a turret?

Yes, just that (a) someone would have to do it and that (b) it could potentially be difficult.

It don't think it would be potentially difficult, though it may look very silly.

That would be the difficult part: constraining the range of motion of the segments of the tail such that it would not look silly.

Hey guys,
sorry been a bit busy this week, i'll have some stuff to show by then end of this week.
Ishq: no luck yet, the files i export from 3ds are still too big and maya is still giving me errors.

Have you tried just opening the original file in blender then using this script to export to md5?

@CKid: if you will not succeed with exporting, we could try to export it in some format blender understands and export it from there.
