I was wondering if there is demand for some original music for unvanquished, something along the lines of main menu theme, ambient tracks, map loading music and music for match endings.

Ambient tracks, probably not due to the focus on competitive play. Everything else: Sure! We have a small number of menu songs so far but having more would be great. We don't have map loading or match ending music yet but it sounds like a good idea. We can add support for both if you provide the first tracks.

How does competitive gameplay preclude ambient tracks?

Xonotic is very competitive yet it still has great music: Jumping in Space, Stairs.
