Installers

Yeah, we know the installers suck. There are plans underway for a more advanced installer, but until then would you guys prefer that we keep the current installers around? Most people seem to be okay with downloading the universal zip, but the installers allow for incremental upgrades. Would it be sufficient for us to include an incremental zip that you guys unzip over your current install? What are your thoughts on this?

[Edit by Viech: Added poll.]

The idea behind an incremental zip is that we'd provide you with the new binary and the new asset pack, and you just copy those files into the universal zip folder.

I split the offtopic discussion into this thread and added a poll.

I vote to drop the incremental updates.

As an alternative, there is always the hybrid solution:
do a new baseline release every few months (e.g. 3-6), and do incremental updates in between.

Every release will be standalone. Option two in the poll means that we would provide a zip that only contains new pk3s and new binaries in addition to the standalone package.
