Re: Idea: Forward Slide
Seconded
Unvanquished is an open-source FPS game featuring team-based strategy and RTS elements, pitting humans against aliens in a futuristic setting.

A slide isn't really necessary, it would only be a useless gimmick.
To be honest, I don't think dodge is all that useful either. Maybe I haven't played enough to know otherwise, but I never really use it.
We need abilities that are actually useful in specific situations

I believe it's already been stated on this thread that such an ability would be useful for escaping into vents, protecting you from goons and tyrants.
Personally, I find dodge extremely useful. The extra distance it grants you can mean the difference between life and death.
This is not Urban Terror.
Humans already have a huge amount of stamina, dodge and strafe-jumping capabilities. I'm pretty sure they can get around pretty quickly and efficiently already.

Come on. How many times were you killed because you couldn't escape into a vent fast enough? Not more than once in 10 games I would bet.
It could work as a crouch slide similar to that in Battlefield rather than a power slide that you would see in UrT.
