I think the main issue with wing is that it is inverted in reference to for example, bat wings.

Here you got a picture of a bat wings with low opacity and I put same wings inverted as in our concept.

We had some diffculties and disagreements during concept phase and I was more worried about the legs at that point, so I didn't put enough focus on the wings, sorry for that! Do you think you can figure something out? I guess making the wings wider (in tail direction) and making sure limbs are flexible enough to support an efficient shrinking and flying animation would be sufficient. You don't need to stick to the wing concept if you have a better idea about (a part of) it.

I was thinking to model bat wings adding a new joint to respect concept art a bit. What do you think?

I uploaded a video of shrike with wings. Let me know what do you think about it:

I never considered a second set of wings.. very interesting indeed.

I prefer the ishq version with overlapping wings. They can trap more air if both sets of wings are held close together to create one pair of bigger wings.

Me gusta.

I like the overlapping version! The wings are compact yet flying with them seems plausible. The added joint will give us more freedom when animating. The only thing that could use some work is the attachment: The armor shell where the wings stick out could "enframe" the wing joints a bit more.

Well, I modeled a rought sketch with some of the ideas we were talking about:

  • Balance the overall model: Increasing "chest" and decreasing tail meassures.
  • I take off scales: I did it to model and I thought it could be also something to check.
  • Double wing
  • Increase movement of head
  • Checking movement of legs
