Development games: Pick a date

Post by kharnov »

Hello everyone.

In this thread, I'd like to announce that we're setting up weekly development games! The games will be held each Sunday, from the North American perspective. Here are the available time slots that I'd think would work well:

  1. 12 PM EST. Equivalent to 5 PM (17:00) GMT. Should work for our European players.

  2. 6 PM EST. Equivalent to 11 PM (23:00) GMT. Should work for our North American players.

  3. 12 AM EST. Equivalent to 5 AM (5:00) GMT. Should work for our Pacific players.

We have multiple servers set up for use. Generally, we'd like to hold games on the official North American server, but if your ping isn't that great there, we can hold games on the Quake.Fr server (European) or Aussie Assault (Pacific). We're only asking for everyone to come around for a single match at those time slots, but if you have the time, feel free to keep playing!

In this thread, let everyone know which times you'll be playing at by publicly pledging for one or more of the available time slots. If we all know that we can expect other people to be on, we'll have a better chance of getting people in-game. These development games will be a great opportunity for everyone involved, as you'll be able to play against other people instead of bots, and you can develop your skills as we continue to develop the game. You'll get to meet us all, too!

I think I'll be available for pretty much all three of those slots on Sundays. I'll try to make it to all of them, but I'll definitely always be around for the third slot, which would be at midnight for me. I always stay up pretty late.

Issues are going on with "sceduled games" due to the lack of people left in the aussieassault community. Currently most games happen in 1.1 now since a lot of us actually don't like gpp-based-gameplay, or at least a portion of it.

Also, instead of only 3 options, can we get 12 options, 2 hours difference between, or maybe 6 with 4? its just... argh its hard to say... also i don't have internet from 10pm all the way to 6 pm the next day most days
EDIT:Removed a lot of crap to reduce paragraph size

Meh use a 24 hour clock and quote GMT. Also at what local time do people like to play?

If the idea is for the thirds slot to start on Sunday evening from a US (EST) perspective, doesn't that make it Monday in Asia? You might have to start the first games on Saturday from a US perspective if you want asian people to be able to participate.

Check out this meeting planner if you are having a hard time getting your head around the times.
http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/meetingtime.html?day=16&month=12&year=2012&p1=103&p2=137&p3=179&p4=136&p5=101&p6=166&p7=248&iv=0

I suggest some combination of the following.
SATURDAY 19:00 GMT, for Eastern US and continental EU
SUNDAY 02:00 GMT, for US, pacific and Asian players
SUNDAY 12:00 GMT, Continental Europe and Asia
SUNDAY 19:00 GMT, US, EU, and Hawaii rejoice, Asians have gone back to work.
MONDAY 02:00 GMT, for US players

###but wait, this means mid-night for eastern aus and for emperor jack, that'd be like 2 am. 00:00 GMT will do i guess.
