Hi all,
We're holding a gaming night at work this Friday with the intention being to play Unvanquished, and I've been asked to setup.
I've downloaded the game and have been able to play on the public servers, but we were thinking that it's probably a good idea to have a local server for our work event.
I've tried creating a local LAN game from within the game menu, but nothing happens when I press the 'Play' button.
I've also tried running a dedicated server on a second machine on the same network. I managed to find the 'map start' command on the command line and selected a map, but when trying to find the server, could see nothing advertised on the LAN option from within game (this was on a second machine on the same network).
I've seen some information about a server.cfg file, but can't locate this to add information and am unsure of what can go in this file and format etc.
Is there a guide available for command line server startup options for what I want to do?
Is anyone able to give me a quick rundown of the process for getting this to work?
Currently I'm using Windows 7 for this, but have no real issue using a Linux machine for the server if that's likely to work better.
Clients are likely to be a mixture of Linux/Windows and possibly OS X.
We have a network switch available for this and I had no plans on connecting it to the internet, but may be able to if this makes things easier.
Many thanks for reading this far and if there is any info needed, let me know.
