Three independent games that originated from the same game on steam? Yeah, probably not.

I've got a feeling T2 will get greenlit before us, since they're commercial. They also have a higher chance being accepted too. Only problem for them right now is that they have no code and no game. On their forums i mentioned that unv's kinda the opposite from my opinion: Has a game + code, it's free, but assets can be lacking in some ways whereas t2 is basically what i said earlier. Fancy looking, but no game.

They have a bad re-model of the goon and a decent model of marauder.

Also everyone one the dev team is just a concept artist, they have also made a shitload of graphics related to 'kick-starter' and drew a picture of a background for the marauder to chill in.

I don't think they really have their priorities in order, and I highly doubt this will go any further than just concept art and a few models.

They at least somewhat have two coders. I'm not sure about the rest though. That is, nalf and rotacak. You probably never seen/talked to nalf before because he plays gpp only as far as I know.

Rotacak is also a concept artist.
Considering that they are 'building from the ground up', I doubt he has the skills to code a game from scratch, either way probably isn't going to happen.

They've even ignored the dev's wishes (No you don't have permission to use Tremulous in your game name).

FWIW they asked if they could use the name and I said no. I haven't heard anything since.

I contacting you because you are author of the Tremulous
game. Me and many others love that game very much, but sadly
game still losing players and will die soon.

It is inevitable that something as old as Tremulous will wane in
popularity somewhat.

That is reason, why our independent team did decision that
we will completely recreate this game and will add many new
features.

Completely recreating Tremulous from scratch is an unrealistically large
quantity of work if you're looking at achieving contemporary standards,
unless you can afford to throw a lot of talented professionals at it.
UE3 will of course give you a step up, but don't over-estimate how much
using an existing engine actually gets you in practice.

Our goal is to achieve same atmosphere and
gameplay. Because of that we choosed name Tremulous 2 for
this game. I want to ask you, if you have any problem with
that, or no.

I would want you to use a different name. From your point of view you
should want to create and name something that can stand on its own feet
without relying on the legacy of another aging game. In many ways this
is how Tremulous came about. Many of its developers were fans of the
Quake 2 mod Gloom. Tremulous is fairly heavily inspired by its game-play.

We are not some fans developers whose will
break apart after month. We will spend all time and money
for developing this game - I was quit my job already.

That's a huge risk to take]

You didn't hear me right. They modded tremulous just as how Sex mods his F server and improved the path-node bot code to some extent or how Aaron ported TremX to tremfusion and adding the spitfire class amongst other things.

They've even ignored the dev's wishes (No you don't have permission to use Tremulous in your game name).

Legally they are. Law is a bitch in terms of naming conventions. Just check out all those copied home-brand shit at coles, woolies and IGA supermarkets.

We should rename to Tremulous: Evolution.
That last line was a joke.

Good for them.

I'm pretty sure their plan was to re-write the whole game so that they could make monies off it.

Wait, Trem2 are making Granger Plushes? As amazing as that is, the only Granger mercy you can sell is a shirt with 'Granger Danger' on it.

A few sites we can get our name on:

MMOBomb - They have this feature called 'CloneAttack' in which they show you F2P games of big titles. We could get our shoe in the door with NS2.

IGN - Make a nice large thread, post pictures, get popularity, wait until a writer sees it and makes us an article.

Google - GoogleBomb until the word Tremulous goes to us. (Somehow I think this might get us in trouble)

ModDB - Easy peasy, just add Unvanquished.

Desura - Same as above.

Traditional - Plonking flyers on walls in shopping centres. Bit old fashioned, but it might pique some people's attention as it's uncommon.

Freebies - Plead with local game sellers (Not department stores like what-ever you have in USA or Big W in Aus, but places like EB Games, who specialise) to give people copies of the game on discs. This method costs more cash, as we have to buy the CDs and make covers for them and make the game more appealing so people stay with it.

Word of Mouth online - If you're in some community for, say, Minecraft or WoW, just drop a thread somewhere and encourage people to try it.

ConvoBombing - Talking about games with someone, randomly blurt out Unvanquished.

I have no more on me right now, and half of these ideas are me just being a giant knob.
