I've some trouble for finding my way in videogames maps. I've got quite the same problem in real life, finding my way in cities is hard for me.
A lot of Unvanquished maps are way too complicated for me, I spend a lot of time just finding a way from alien base to human base, and then a way back.
So, I was thinking, what about adding a minimap to Unvanquished?
These were automatically generated using q3map2. As you can see, these minimaps are quite confusing and I'm not sure how useful they will be. See if you can identify the maps. We do plan to have minimaps in the future, it is currently uncertain how we plan to generate them. We're investigating several possible methods.
On Orion, there is a small map displayed on a wall in lobby. Maybe something similar can be done for new maps. Sort of like emergency escape route displayed on many buildings. At least until proper minimaps are implemented in the future.
For multi-level maps, each level should have it's own minimap and loaded on to the HUD when the player is in that particular level.
How do you make those images? I think i've done a partial x-ray like image (tga) of my street-clash map when i had trouble compiling it. It came out as a side-effect from a mistake in the decompilation of the .bsp process i think.
