Guidelines for Ideas & Suggestions

Post by kharnov »

Hi, and welcome to the Ideas & Suggestions sub-forum. This is where you post ideas regarding the game itself, although you can also post suggestions about the forum, or the website, or really anything else Unvanquished-related that you think would be a good idea.

One thing to keep in mind is that this is the sub-forum for generating new ideas and discussing them, so if you want to talk about existing things, use the Feedback sub-forum. If what you want to talk about doesn't fall under either category, use General Discussion.

It wouldn't be appropriate to set out a whole set of rules for this sub-forum, since we don't want to stifle community creativity. That being said, there are still a few guidelines that should serve as advice for a good, productive thread.

  • Try to flesh out your idea. Detail is pretty important with this kind of discussion. Why do you think something should do extra damage, or why should another thing move slower? How does this add to the game or make it more fun?

  • Consider the implementation. Generally, things that need significantly large amounts of coding work or a new model will take longer and will require greater effort, and would thus be subject to greater scrutiny. If you can implement your idea yourself, let us know! We are always open to community contributors.

  • Keep joke threads to Off-topic. This isn't to say that humor isn't allowed here, but rather that it makes reading the sub-forum a mess if there's a lot of joke threads. If it's an obvious joke, we'll just move your thread. You're more than welcome to suggest ridiculous things in the Off-topic sub-forum, and we'll generally reply if it's hilarious enough.

Besides that, just follow the global guidelines and have fun.

For small ideas that you don't plan to spend a lot of time on to flesh them out, there's this thread. Please use it so that the more detailed ideas get the attention they deserve.
