You have a fail version of libwebp. You need libwebp 0.2.0 minimum.

Try r_nofog 1

This is a cheat protected cvar, and rightly so.

I still think this is a stupid requirement to have.

Webp 0.2.0 was released August 16 2012, aka just 2 months ago.

Therefore, a lot of Linux distros have not upgraded it yet.

Ubuntu is still on 0.1.3 unless you use a PPA.

Fedora is still on 0.1.3 even in Rawhide.

Not to mention the multitude of other Linux distros out there.

It most certainly does.
We made sure it did before release.

Recent? Yes. Most won't have it? Yes.

So it's up to us to let packagers know that it's needed; and we failed to do this, at least with PlayDeb. However, the maintainer has been informed, and hopefully there'll be an updated package there soon.

Debian and Ubuntu packages (squeeze, wheezy, sid; 12.04, 12.10, 13.04) may work on derivatives

OFFEND! … no, that's not right… ATTACK!
