I upgraded! (I still have the laptop for traveling)

  • OS: Linux 3.11.0-12-generic x86_64 GNU/Linux, Ubuntu 13.10, Gnome Shell 3.11 (with many PPAs)

  • GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7970 (1 GHz, 3 Gb)

  • CPU: AMD FX 8350 (8 cores, 4 GHz, 16 Mb)

  • RAM: G.Skill 32Gb DDR3 PC15000 (4 x 8 Gb, 1.6 GHz because the CPU can't handle more)

  • Drive: Seagate 4 Tb SATA 3.1 (in fact 2 x 4 Tb RAID 1) plus some drives more

  • Monitor: Samsung 27" 1920 x 1080 (the one quoted at #6614)

And I found a new Trackman on second-hand market.

Now I can play with set cl_renderer GL3.

32 gb? mmm.. you may not, but hey, do not worry, with a machine like that, you can surely run doom 1 full screen.

Yes, in fact with that machine I can play to quake 3 fullscreen in 1920x1080 with software rasterisation (llvmpipe)
and The Dark Mod (Doom3 derivative) in 640x480 is near playable without hardware acceleration (like using an accelerated GM965 in 1024x768).
I reassure you, in real life my graphics card is used.

Now I can play with set cl_renderer GL3.

Especially, I do not play with an integrated Intel and that's just what makes the difference for GL3.
Of course, other things are oversized for Unvanquished.

Yes, the current release (alpha 22) has terrible fps on Windows. The previous version was fine, so perhaps it will be back to normal in the next release (beginning of January).
