Yes, perhaps a name without species will be chosen.
Preferably a a name with anime.
Keep it short and snappy. Over two words makes it lose a lot of the feels.

That was a joke. I suggested it because pretty much all games I had on unvanquished lacked superior form of teamwork. Maybe we gotta encourage people to use VoIP since you guys are all suggesting we all use OpenAL instead of the SDL or whatever the default trem one was.

Hi friends, long-time no-see.
First, let me say I'm totally into ditching the Unvanquished name. Unvanquished made sense for the third-race mod, but I feel like it was adopted for this project because of the panic of being cut out of TremZ and due to the fact that the domain/resources already existed for the name Unvanquished.
Moving forward, I think it would bend of cool to see a name along the lines of what inspired the names of the influences/ancestry of Unvanquished.
The Doom -> Quake -> Gloom -> Tremulous line all share some common themes: they're all effects/causes of fear.
Impending doom causes fear, as would Gloom. Quake and Tremulous are both referential to shakiness and instability caused by both fear and adrenaline.
Note that the more action oriented games have the names relating to physical effects, while Gloom and Doom are more atmospheric and have the emotionally-related names.
Now, is Unvanquished more focused on action or atmosphere? I don't really know, I can't see the GDD so I can't really tell you where it's going.
I don't actually have a solid name suggestion, but I'll toss out some ideas for the sake of discussion.
Discomposure and Trepidation both fit the bill to me. They meet the half-way point between the action and atmospheric names, they're both effects of fear, and they're both abstract enough that they're going to define the game rather than describe it.
