Wiki revamp: Feedback wanted
Hey guys! As some of you may know I'm the new de-facto wiki admin. Like the forums and IRC, the point of the wiki is to help the people in the community, wherever they sit upon the player and contributor line. I've seen a few gaming communities flourish and die -- people leave when the pastures in t...

Re: Are there better ways of organising assets while mapping
What are you working on, if you don't mind me asking? By the way, you can always idle on our development channel. It's #unvanquished-dev on Freenode. Thanks Kharnov -- I did not even think of using IRC. It would probably be much better suited for solving trivial questions like this :) Although my e...

Are there better ways of organising assets while mapping?
Unvanq seems to layer all pk3s at the same spot in a virtual filesystem, where all textures end up in /textures, maps in /maps, etc. I assume this is how Quake did it because it brings advantages such as being able to 'displace' files from one pk3 with newer ones from another (for eg updates). For m...

@Chameleon
Very nice, but best used with the game or an editor to see where the textures all fit in (unless you are doing a 1:1 recreation at higher res). I'm surprised how little texture content is actually used in the old maps.

Re: Praise for making this game more approachable
First of all, I love your avatar! Arch & Unvanquished ftw! Almost every single Unvanq player at the moment is using Arch. I have a feeling we all read Phoronix too. PKGBUILDs are always appreciated. Wow, someone reads this? And even appreciates the colors? I should update it, since it is massiv...

Praise for making this game more approachable
Greetings to all, including the awesome devs and the almost as awesome players! This morning I woke at 2:00 AM to get ready for the weekly planned match on the dev server. It turns out the time emailed out was wrong -- it's at 20:00 GMT, not 15:00 GMT -- so I had a few hours to muck around with the ...

Re: Your glory days of Tremulous
The brute DPS of the chaingun was always my love. Taking down goons by crouching to make sure every shots hits, watching them lose their minds just before they reach me and then run away, screaming in pain. This is actually quite disturbing. Why am I writing this? As for GPP, I just use pulse rifle ...
