Surface Types

Have the ability to define surface types in the shader (default, metal, ground and snow seem like a decent set).
Then have decals, particles and sounds be configurable depending on the surface type.

Particle System Color Ramps

Since a picture speaks a thousand words: http://files.acidtu.be/misc/particleramps.png Dissolving particles are a very typical use case, 'energy particles' especially, but it can even be used for smoke and blood effects. It's easy to tweak for artists and might eliminate having to set several variab...

Re: Porting my Gloom-inspired mod to Unv?

Hey, I'm just curious, why do you want to switch from Source to some open source engine?

Re: Hooray for JavaScript!

Depends on how you measure I doubt that JS is fit for any serious work (e.g. games). This benchmark states that JS (V8) is 3x-6x slower than C (gcc). Plenty of Unity games use JS afaik. Isn't the reason for scripting more about trading performance for flexibility? 3 to 6 times slower doesn't sound ...

UI brightness (alpha 30)

It's nice to see that the maps are bright enough at gamma 1.0
The menus seem pretty dark though? Mostly the main menu and loading screen.

Love the new UI btw :)

Re: Stop the Bobbing and Shaking!

The weapon bobbing is too pronounced I think. If you tone it down by 50% it would look better.

Re: moonbase map concept

Colorize all those grey textures a little. Color variation doesn't need to be in your face, some off-greys already can do a lot. Same for the lighting. Specmaps need to be much more subtle, but you know that. The outside of the moon is very gray. So you might want to contrast that with a more colorf...

Improved Tremulous Particle Effects [Beta]

I've done some improved particle effects for Tremulous. Haven't checked them in Unvanquished, but I guess they should be mostly compatible. Here's the topic on the Tremulous forums: http://tremulous.net/forum/index.php?topic=17400.msg237277#new (best keep unvanquished related comments in here though...
