I don't believe snow leopard can support the new renderer. You'll have to use the old renderer by issuing the following command into Terminal.

open /Applications/Unvanquished.app/ --args +set cl_renderer GL

It should be possible to allow selection of mirrors for the installer but there's no easy way to select SF mirrors due to two reasons. 1) No easy way to get available SF mirrors. As far as I can tell SF doesn't make it easy to query which mirrors hold a copy of a particular file 2) No guarantee that...

They'd probably need to be animated to look any good. Unfortunately Gavlig (did most of the alien animations) doesn't have the time at the moment.

It should be somewhere in ~/Library/Application Support/Unvanquished/.

That sounds pretty handy. We currently use BitRock (I maintain the project files here ) to install Unvanquished for Windows and OS X. The main issue is that we haven't been able to create a binary that works across most Linux distributions. If you haven't already then jump on #unvanquished-dev (irc....

It's most likely a bad connection. Can you try running the installer again?
