Re: General Feedback

No one like the human model's animations (the model is fine though). He looks like a cocky d-bag. Please explain what exactly you dislike about the animations. I don't get your "cocky douchebag" comparison. Also if we are going to actually discuss the appearance or animations of the human model thi...

Re: Alien Bases that look like Alien Bases

Hey, The problem with this approach is that aliens can move their base anywhere. If we want alien bases to be cluttered with alien stuff we need to do this dynamically (as we already do with the creep). I really like the idea of having more random stuff growing near alien structures. The basilisk an...

Re: What's the difference between this and TremZ?

Hey, this could answer some of your questions: Part I: the beginnings of our project. Where we came from, what started us off. Part II: the current state of our project. What we are currently up to, what our work is focused on. Part III: the future of our project. Where we want to go from here, what...

Re: Searching for more code reviews

I used grep and vim before but tracking function calls between files was rather tedious (is there a plugin that makes this easier?). Qt Creater looks very promising and works like a charm when pointing it to the CMakeLists.txt, I will give it a try!

Re: Balancing and Alien attacks

I played a few rounds of this interesting game and I've come to the conclusion that the Alien race is completely unbalanced. I agree with you that the alien race, especially the dretch behaves rather unintuitive and I hope that will change at some point. The current Unvanquished is, gameplay wise, ...

Re: Installing on Fedora 17 doesn't work

Uhm, if I remember correcly this problem was related to the fact that the linux binary release of Unvanquished has been compiled under Debian which had older librarys at that time. Compiling from source would probably solve your problem. It's pretty easy and should be explained here.

Re: Pulse Rifle

For guns like the Rifle and the Lasgun not seeing the bullets is ok since the travel time is very small, so you only need to lead what ever you're shooting a bit Not really related to your problem but I think that rifle and lasgun don't have bullets but deal instant damage to the target (also mass ...

Re: Searching for more code reviews

Specifically what parts of the code? We spoke on IRC about this, I'm mainly looking for a rough general overview over the complete project as well as lecture that explains/reviews the methods and algorithms used. Viech, it has been my intention to document as much of the engine as I am capable of d...

Re: How accessible should the game be, and to whom?

Kids don't just play mindless shooters, RTS games are popular among young people, too. For public games, we shouldn't expect much more than basic knowledge of both multiplayer FPS and RTS games. Games such as Quake and CS are very easy to learn (and kids play them) but still very hard to master and ...
