Re: Freeway

Thanks for the feedback!

The hut will eventually be enterable (I might make it a shed or something). That door will also be usable.

I'm thinking of moving humans to the server room. I'll tinker with it.

Any chance we can get a game going on this map? I can tether on my phone.

Freeway

O hai. Freeway is a (the first) city map for Unvanquished. It's been in development hell for awhile. I just finished the rough layout and major areas. Would you mind giving some constructive feedback on the layout? Once the layout is finalized, I will make it detailed, add sounds, etc etc. Right now...

Re: New path_corner functionality

FYI, I didn't test the patch very much before it was merged in, so tread with care. I'm not sure what the code is actually doing.

There are some other entity hacks I had planned but my summer has ended up being a lot less productive than I had hoped...

Using GitHub for mapping

I've recently put all of my map assets up on my GitHub account . These are all of the uncompressed assets and original source files for all but a few things (such as the source .blend files for a few of my easter-egg models and the midi tracks for Spacetrack's elevators). So far, using git for manag...

Re: Chasm

Updating Chasm. I've removed the bundled textures and switched the map over to the shared packs, which makes it smaller. I lost some of the colored lights so I'm putting them back in as I see fit. If you want to follow along with development, the map and assets are in a github repo here: https://git...

Re: Jota

Looking good! I did a quick runthrough. Love the curvy airducts above the bases!

I noticed that the player can't drop down into the square air duct behind the fan on the red base side. It's blocked by something invisible and I can see sky through it. Bug?

Re: The special case of the level shot file format

I didn't realize .crn had so many benefits on the GPU side; I concede the point. If we had some sort of public repository to put uncompressed map assets, my main concerns would no longer be concerns. What would it take to set this up (and to get people to actually use it)? I've made a GitHub repo fo...

Re: The special case of the level shot file format

Update: did some quick testing. Took the textures from spacetracks and the lightmaps from freeway (217.5MB of .tga files total). I then crunch'd the files using the default settings, and made separate zip files from the .tga and the .crn files. The .tga pk3 came in at 13.2MB and the .crn came in at ...

Re: The special case of the level shot file format

I mentioned this in IRC but I'll reiterate: As a mapper, I have a problem with .crn in general. As far as I know, most operating systems and image editors don't natively support the format, so viewing textures in a file manager and editing the textures are both problematic. In addition, .crn is loss...
