Deleting vms-0.4.1.pk3 worked. But you definitely need MSVCR100.dll and MSVCR100D.dll. Those two files along with MSVCP100.dll were not included in the alpha5 release.

Grab reality by the balls and squeeeeze!

I believe those are the Microsoft Visual C 2010 runtimes. I've already uploaded a new build with those uploaded.

I have downloaded 0.5.1 "full" (as I didn't have any other version by the time) and it's still missing the dll files

Unfortunately, I had to download 0.5.0 and grab these from there :) These files also ain't present in 0.5.1 update pack, although I didn't expect them to be there. Was worth a try though.

This version seems really screwed up in terms of UI/l10n, in old renderer at least, lots of missing texts, weird symbols, gotta post screenshots and proper thread soon
