Here is my sketch in Zbrush, I will rework it in maya too eventually, but first I need to have opinion about proportions, shapes, big details, etc.

I know it is less bulky than the concept, I will continue to work on it.

Wow, that looks great! It definitely looks like how I'd imagine the central alien control structure to look like. The detail on the claws is very nice, and I like the small alien faces embedded into the base of it.

I've told Pevel to take a look at this too, he's the one that made the concept. He's in Poland and should be awake in a few hours.

Wow, impressive! You're pretty fast. I like how you made the overmind more dynamic than in the concept. It looks better :) Here are my suggestions (please look at the image and corresponding numbers):

  1. The claws could be more emphasized. On the other hand, they don't have to look functional, they don't need to be sharp. Imagine claws that haven't been used for milion years and, due to evolution process, degraded to a bulky limb with some hints of a claw.
  2. You could add partially incorporated small creatures' legs between 'armor' plates. That would show more clearly that the overmind is in fact a mysterious symbiosis of 5 small creatures. Sounds cool, huh.
  3. It is recommended that all objects in the game fit roughly in a cuboid, thus the model has to be rather bulky. You could also make the connection between the 'head' and the rest more emphasized.

I corrected the lower part, it is now more bulky

Changed the little creature at the bottom, however, I am not sure what you mean by emphasize the claws (bigger, more detailed?)
So what I did is I made them less sharp and made them slightly bigger

Very nice, I love how detailed this is coming out! Let's see what Pevel says when he wakes up in a couple of hours.

Nice, keep up the good work! I have no concerns about the model right now.

Here's the low poly version, any changes before I get to the high-res textures?

I plan to reduce the symmetry when I will be sculpting high-res textures in Zbrush, but the topology will be roughly the same

7116 Triangles in total
