Hi guys,

I have been working a bit more on textures, mainly in carapace and wings.

As we were talking I have added different material to wings and more subtle details like veins (two different layers to add some ramdomness and also changing thickness on them), bubbles and scracthes.

In carapace I was trying to add some dirty and a bit of sand/rock effect, that one is very subtle, I also added another layer of golden colour.

I have put gloss map as alpha inside spec map, here you have the file modified:

I hope you enjoy it and if it looks great to you, then I will fix manually some errors in textures with Photoshop.

A rendering would be nice so more people can get an impression and comment on the texture job.

Hi guys,

yesterday I was changing colours of carapace to something more brown as Viech, Cron ans Ishq suggested. I have done a turntable of model, that way you can check it:

I have also uploaded textures of shrike model if you want to check them inside UV engine:

I forgot to share with you a document with some references I used after I started to model shrike:

The carapace color looks good. I wouldn't use this fleshy purple on the head though (it looks weak and exposed), rather copy the brown of the carapace or try something new. (Speaking of the head, the glowing eyes still need to be bigger and brighter!) I would also try a significantly brighter color on the wings, so that they become the eye catcher of the model.

Hi guys,

I have modified purple colour of head/chest and changed to similar colour scheme of rest of carapace (I get the same material in ddo and modified some mask/colours). I made wings more brown and added some variances.

This is coming out great, but I still think you need better eyes on it.

Nice subtle details on the wings!

And yes, some sort of enlargement needs to happen to the eyes, otherwise they will be much smaller than those of the other aliens given that we need to make the shrike sufficiently small to fit into hallways with its wings extended.

How much bigger should be the eyes? Could you provide me an image of actual head with eyes modified in photoshop?
