But i guess fish eye lens are tolerable... Maybe make the maximum 360 degrees? (That is what a REAL spider sees after all...)

On some occasions i use the dimensions 1280 x 360 because it gives a wider FOV. Despite people looking tiny, it's easy to get used to in gameplay.
Obviously I use windowed mode, I never go fullscreen. My fullscreen resolution is actually 1366x800 i think... it's a weird ass number, but my previous computer was weirder.

Do they have to be LCD/LED/Plasma screens or any old thing I can find? I have about 20 Macs and 40 old, box screens lying about. :3

When i play anime (generally 16:9) there's space at the bottom/top. When I play 16:10 clips (rare to find these days though) there's space at the sides...
When i looked at the ratio it's actually something like 200something : 100 something...
