Microsoft used to be like mice

Microsoft used to know what's good as well...

Microsoft has made Windows XP - the best operating system.

Its default theme (Luna) deserves a special mention: it's the absolute pinnacle of theming.
No operating system ever since managed to outdo Luna, not even Windows Vista.
Also, it's no coincidence that Linux Mint is the most popular distribution.
After all, it's the spiritual successor of Windows XP in the Linux world.

Microsoft has made Microsoft Office 2003 - the best office suite.

It's also the last one to feature Office Assistant.
Sadly it has been removed in later versions of Microsoft Office.
This is my gripe, not the Ribbon UI.
The computer industry began its descent into the pit of spiritual death.

Microsoft has made Visual Basic 6 - the best programming language.

There's not much to say about it: a perfect balance.
Petitions have been made to bring it back.

Microsoft has maintained that GUI is the best way for humans to use computers.

Regrettably, the plague which is command line has not spared Microsoft either.
They have given in and created PowerShell.

“Microsoft uses Git, they know what's good”
“Microsoft uses Bash, they know what's good”
“Microsoft uses Linux, they know what's good”

It looks like they're trying to take back PRO from PROprietary to keep it safe
