Hi Matth, nice ATCS remix!

I already found two bugs, next to the base there is a blue/red wall glass, they are not clipped so aliens can go behind, also, we can see the void from this point of view (top and bottom, it's worse on the red side than on the blue side).

From here:

You can go there:

Fear the void!

Also, are these “dummy” words expected?

Looking good! I did a quick runthrough. Love the curvy airducts above the bases!

I noticed that the player can't drop down into the square air duct behind the fan on the red base side. It's blocked by something invisible and I can see sky through it. Bug?

illwieckz: Thank you for ur feedback
That happens when you try to save every polygon possible :D I will add a playerclip-wall there and texture the polygons.
Dummy = Placeholder - those textures will be exchanged later.
All other errors fixed.

Supertanker: Thanks  I fixed the error u described. It was a caulk brush i left there. :ckit:

Hi Matth, there is some serious issues with your legal stuff. It's currently illegal to download the map to play it, and it's currently illegal to upload the map on a server to host it, and it's illegal to serve it.

I quote your map-jota.txt file.

I can be prosecuted and condemned by writing this post because it means I downloaded the map-jota_v1.0.pk3 file, wich is currently illegal.

So, the quote:

'jota' map file and all other files under A.) are licensed under the following terms:

Code: Select all

YOU ARE ALLOWED TO PLAY THIS MAP ON YOUR PC OR SERVER.
YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED COPY AND REDISTRIBUTE THE MATERIAL IN ANY MEDIUM OR FORMAT.
YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DECOMPILE, REDESIGN, REPACK, RE-RELEASE ANY FILES COVERED BY THIS LICENSE.
NONCOMMERCIAL — YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED USE THE MATERIAL FOR COMMERCIAL PURPOSES OR YOUR PROJECTS.
NODERIVATIVES — YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO REMIX, TRANSFORM, OR BUILD UPON THE MATERIAL, YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DISTRIBUTE THE MODIFIED MATERIAL.
NO ADDITIONAL RESTRICTIONS — YOU MAY NOT APPLY LEGAL TERMS OR TECHNOLOGICAL MEASURES THAT LEGALLY RESTRICT OTHERS FROM DOING ANYTHING THE LICENSE PERMITS.

©2014-2015 Matth, matth2040@gmail.com - BREMEN/GERMANY
*All files listed under B.) are not covered by this license and have their own licenses[/quote]

So, this is the first issue:

YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED COPY AND REDISTRIBUTE THE MATERIAL IN ANY MEDIUM OR FORMAT.

  • It means it's illegal to download the map on a personal computer (it's copying).

  • It means it's illegal to upload the map on a server (it's copying).

  • It means it's illegal to host the map with autodownload enabled (it's redistributing).

But the first line of your legal stuff says:

YOU ARE ALLOWED TO PLAY THIS MAP ON YOUR PC OR SERVER.

Which is wrong since you can't play on PC and server without copying. So, this two lines are contradictory.

Why don't you use a worldwide recognized license written by specialists like the Creative Common ones? It seems what you need is a CC BY-NC-ND license.

So, I resume the legal reading:

NODERIVATIVES — YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO REMIX, TRANSFORM, OR BUILD UPON THE MATERIAL, YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DISTRIBUTE THE MODIFIED MATERIAL.

It's your choice, but I want to say you I think it's not a good idea at all. If your map will be broken in the future due to a prospective compatibility break nobody will be able to fix your map if your life will be so different you will not be able to do it yourself.

It's possible that unvanquished break things, it's already happened in the past, the most likely is perhaps the supported picture format will change. For example nobody knows if webp will have a long term support, even if I want it because it works very well in some case. Another example: entities keyword are subject to changes.

It's possible that you will not be able to fix some things yourself in the future, that is happening more often than we think, and usually without warning.

Nobody is everlasting, but your good work can be. Forbidding derivatives means what you did is already dead.

It's not good for you and for what you did.

In fact, your map will be unavailable when the http://www.filedropper.com/map-jotav10 url will be dead. Since you forbid people to mirror this file, it means you transferred to filedropper.com your own right to decide if you map must live or not. So, the availability of your map is uncertain.

I don't understand how you can be so afraid to gives some right to others and in the meantime cease your right to a third-party content delivery and give them the power of life or death over your own work.

Also, I already met people who used this kind of legal clause because they want to help users to get the original file and not be scammed. I don't know if it's why you are so restrictive, but if it is, I have to say it's not the right way to do it. Legal stuff is not the right way to do it.

First reason: if someone wants to do something wrong, he can also do it wrong on a legal point of view. For example, if someone wants to sell counterfeiting to scam people, nothing prevents the infringer to do other bad stuff.

Second reason: Legal stuff is not the right way to do it. Even if the author said it's illegal to modify something, nobody can knows if the file wasn't modified.

If you want to help people to knows if they get the original one (for example if you fear someone think a map modified by someone else is yours) you must publish a checksum. The better is to publish a checksum and sign it and sign the file itself (so you ensure the file is yours and the version you published).

This is the only way to ensure people will knows if the file they get is your or not.

Even if you forbid derivatives, I can't know if the file I illegally downloaded from filedropper.com is the one you uploaded.

I found some issues in the map I downloaded, but perhaps there is no issue in the map you uploaded, who knows? Or perhaps I'm talking about some legal stuff you never wrote, who knows?

So, you also wrote:

NO ADDITIONAL RESTRICTIONS

Is it a joke? Nothing is allowed currently! All is forbidden.

You also wrote:

YOU MAY NOT APPLY […] MEASURES THAT LEGALLY RESTRICT OTHERS FROM DOING ANYTHING THE LICENSE PERMITS

Is it a joke? The license currently permits nothing at all.

A good idea is to never write legal stuff oneself because it's the best way to do it wrong, There are some specialists who does it for you.

For example for my own stuff I usually ISC license for code and CC-By license for other stuff. It's OK if your are not as permissive as me, there are some other more restrictive license written by specialist and worldwide recognized.

It's currently illegal to download your map, and since no server host it and since it's illegal to host your map with autodownload enabled, it means your map is already dead and all the time you put in this work is lost.

So, your legal stuff is only 9 line long but is wrong from the start and is sabotaging your own job.

Please fix this issue.

One more thing:

YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO REMIX, TRANSFORM, OR BUILD UPON THE MATERIAL

It's legal in my country even if you say no If I need to do it for compatibility purpose. The only thing I can't do is to distribute what I modified.

I can't have some comments about the map itself and about issues I can't found (surface continuity issues for example) because I can't found these issues legally.
