Re: New crunch format leading to 4 time faster compression and space saving but break compatibility

This a PR bringing Unity's crunch format to Dæmon:

https://github.com/DaemonEngine/Daemon/pull/70

I verified that if I use that modified engine to load stuff produced by Unity's crunch it works.

New crunch format leading to 4 time faster compression and space saving but break compatibility

Hi guys, You probably know that we use the crn format for our ready-for-GPU textures. Packages just ship a lot of .crn files and the engine sends stuff to GPU drivers without decompression, which leads to short load time and acceptable quality. We currently use an old fork of crunch , the one from B...

Unvanquished minecraft psyschedelic edition

Discovering Unity did some enhancements (???) to the crunch tool we use, I compiled their “enhanced” code and run it on our textures… Well, it was pretty bad! Just watching the preview in your file browser you notice something is bad: https://dl.illwieckz.net/b/crunch/bugs/unity-branch-psychedelic-m...

IQM support in NetRadiant

Hi, just this topic to show off some improvements I'm doing on NetRadiant side! Some month ago I imported in NetRadiant code base an IQM plugin from AARadiant (a radiant spin from Alien Arena). the IQM format or InterQuake Model format is the model format we use and recommend. But this plug-in was i...

Re: Vehicles?

Hi @whitepines ! I would recommend you the Xonotic game (they are our dear friends !). Xonotic is an UT-like game and has vehicle support and an onslaught game mode. The Xonotic onslaught game mode does not look to be very popular (I'm not seeing any active server for it at the time I write this com...

Re: New package format for upcoming 0.51.0 release (bye bye pk3)

In fact I'm not sure if it's a good idea to put the alpha/beta/whatever semantic in version number at all, it's looks to be another metadata to me. And if it were me I would probably just use one number without any dot so nobody would complain about the meaning of minor or major or whatever! :tongue...

Re: New package format for upcoming 0.51.0 release (bye bye pk3)

:announce: Sorry, I forgot to say 0.51.0 release will merge tex-ej01-clean , tex-ej01-ice and tex-ej01-common into a lone tex-ej01 package, so maps relying on them will need a DEPS file rewrite. The 0.51.0 release will also introduces a res-ambient packages for cool crates and ambient sounds and stu...

New package format for upcoming 0.51.0 release (bye bye pk3)

:announce: Hi, upcoming 0.51.0 release will introduce a new package format to succeed to the good old pk3 one. Don't worry, it's just the same we already used… TL;DR: .pk3 becomes .dpk So, why the change ? Over the years, Unvanquished improved a lot the good old pk3 format, adding version checking a...

Re: [WIP] Terminus, the new name of the Metro map by newin

Just to say the missing fire was an engine bug which is now fixed.
